What we do
Tickster’s development department works intensively to improve and develop new and existing hardware and software to make the system as accessible and user-friendly as possible for organisers and ticket buyers.
Ticksters DNA
By Organisers, For Organisers
Our history of arranging festivals ourselves is still with us – experiences and service are a part of our DNA. That’s why it’s so important to us that working at Tickster should be fun; it’s not just because we develop good products and have satisfied customers – it all starts with the people we work with.
And perhaps that’s really the most important reason we enjoy our job and like going to work every day: we’re proud of our helpful collaborative culture and of each other’s knowledge and experience.
Innovation in everything we do
A major part of our development occurs in partnership with our clients. They’re the experts on their workdays and how they are changing. Our job is to keep up with that. And of course much of our development is triggered by our own innovation.
Continuous product development and constant improvements are just what we do at Tickster!
Eat your own dog food!
If you’ve ever had to report every minute spent on a project to tick all the boxes a tight project budget, you’ll find Tickster a lot more relaxed with much less overhead.
Because our own customer support staff use most of what we developers create, we put a lot of effort into the user experience. It just feels better knowing we make things that clients and colleagues alike appreciate.
“We’re always looking for people who are fun to work with”
Interested in a developer job with us?
Ideal candidates should preferably have worked with (or been project manager of) qualified software development or testing, but not necessarily in the exact same field we work with.Must be willing and able to learn quickly (and speak up when something is unclear) – and be able to communicate well. Should preferably have broad skills like the rest of us developers at Tickster. Ideally have a specialist area we lack, and be a strong team player.
Our daily work involves learning new things, understanding complex contexts and solving challenging problems – and working together to build Sweden’s most popular ticketing system.
What will your working day look like at Tickster?
Depending on your background and special interests, you will likely be part of one or more teams, where you and your colleagues will work through the whole project cycle, from breaking down needs and features, to iterations and testing, to making sure your design is sent to production.
We have relatively little administrative overhead – we hold meetings when they are needed and give value, not just to keep up appearances. That means that you can spend much of your time in Visual Studio (we work mainly with .NET/C#).You will talk (or chat/video chat via Slack/Meet) with colleagues, discuss, consult, or give advice. You will probably review one or two PRs and provide feedback. You’ll probably also have time to talk to System Support (which is in contact with and helps the organisers) to get their opinion of the feature you’re working on. You might look into the ELK stack to see how that part of the system is used and performs and you might use Jira to look at related or adjacent issues or Sentry to get an idea of what’s worth thinking about to resolve the problem you’re dealing with.
